With the new Toyota 2022 86 GR and Subaru BRZ both now revealed, I’m not as excited as when the latter was revealed. I loved the new look of the BRZ, and expected the Toyota variant to provide a nice visual alternative, albeit minor. Nope. I love the grill of the 2022 GR 86, but that’s about it. The profile is ho-hum to me, in a way the BRZ isn’t. The rear end? Meh.
First, I don’t need another car. My paid-off Mazda 3 is doing just fine. Also, I can rent just about anything I may desire for a more sporting experience. However, for me, there’s a different license (no pun intended) to drive a car when it is yours, versus when you’re borrowing or renting a car. Although, while 32,000 USD seems about average for the USA MSRP of a car, half that amount will get you a top-tier motorcycle. And for that reason, a la Shark Tank, I’m out.
